Playroom!

When we found out that the girls were neutropenic, we decided it would be best for their toys to be in a separate room where the dogs couldn't lick them and the toys weren't rolling on the floor where there is high traffic.  So, we decided to convert one of the spare bedrooms into their playroom! We traded the bed we had (which belonged to Melissa and John) for a futon from Melisa and John, bought a sheet to cover it, moved the storage shelf from the dining room to the playroom, and hung the beautiful button letters Aunt Melissa made for the girls.  Voila....playroom!  Needless to say, the girls and I spend quite a bit of time in here:)

A Project

This project started off as mine...but slowly became Phil's...poor guy!  We were given a china cabinet by a friend of my parents which was great....but I didn't care for the way it looked, so I decided to change it up a bit.  I had in my mind what I wanted it to look like and it turned out even better than I expected!

Let me explain why it became Phil's project - My parents brought the piece up with them in December and we put it in the garage until I could start working on it.  Well....at the time, the girls were still in the NICU and there was no way I was going to spend time working on that, when I could be visiting my girls.  Phil waited patiently for me to get it out of the garage.  Then, they came home...and most of you know there was absolutely NO WAY I had more than about 2 minutes at a time to do anything for about 3 months.  Phil continued to wait patiently for me to get it out of the garage.  I asked him to sand it down for me and the plan was that I would do the rest.  I guess he finally gave up hope that I would have the time to work on it, so he pretty much did the whole thing!  I really do feel bad that he ended up doing most of the work, but I am thrilled with how it turned out!

What a FUN project!  I am sure if you ask Phil, he might not use the word fun....but it really was fun seeing my idea turn out exactly the way I pictured in my head!

Nana & Uncle Hunter Come to Visit

This past weekend, Nana and Uncle Hunter came to visit.  Although we didn't go anywhere or do anything much (which has definitely become the norm for us!), we enjoyed visiting with each other and they LOVED spending time with the girls.  These little ladies sure got some extra special lovin while they were in town!

Thank you for coming to visit us!  We love you very much and can't wait to see you again!!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the best daddy a girl could ever have!

Playing Catch Up

Since the girls were born prematurely, they are understandably a little bit behind as far as meeting developmental milestones.  Yesterday, we went to their first physical therapy session as a follow-up from the NICU.  They are both doing well, but have some "homework" in order to help them catch up to where a full-term 6.5 month old baby would typically be.  We are trying to do more tummy time and to work with them to get caught up:)

Sleepy Head

My girls have never been very good nappers...especially Anna.  The other day, I was playing with Kate and when I looked over, this is how I found Anna.  Maybe she was trying to tell me she was ready for a nap??

Just Hanging Out

We do a lot of just hanging out at the house:)  The girls are growing and changing every day and we are trying to soak up every smile and giggle!  Here are videos of Kate in the jumper and Anna in the exersaucer...we just can't get enough of these little cuties!!

Our First Visit to CMPC

Yesterday we were able to take the girls to church for the first time.  What a blessing it was to worship with our church family and see everyone who has been praying for us over the past 6 months!  We are so blessed to be a part of such an amazing body of believers and we have been overwhelmed by their love and support.  Becky and Charlotte kept the girls in the nursing mother nursery and we have already had several volunteers to keep them in there every Sunday so Phil and I can attend the worship service.  How spoiled they will be to have their own nursery all to themselves!  Melissa brought her camera and took some pictures for us:)

These dresses were given to us at my shower in Florida and were supposed to be their Easter dresses.  Since they weren't healthy enough to attend church on Easter Sunday, I was so excited that they still fit for our debut at church.

I always knew that Phil would be a great dad, but he continues to amaze me every day!  He truly enjoys spending time with them and is always so helpful.  A friend of mine called the other day and during our conversation she asked me what I have enjoyed most about being a mom.  After I thought about it for a second, I told her that the most enjoyable thing for me as a mom is to watch Phil be a dad!  He is such an amazing man and we are blessed to have him as the head of our family!

Big Girl Strollers

The girls and I go on a walk almost every day.  For the past two days, we decided to try out the big girl strollers and they seem to really like them!  I think they like being able to see everything around them.

If you recall from a post a long time ago when I was still pregnant, some friends scored this double Maclaren from a yard sale for $35!

Over the past week, the girls have finally started to notice one another and to interact with each other more often.  It is so sweet to see them hold hands while they are playing and giggle at one another.  They are also both sleeping in their nursery at night!
