11 Week Ultrasound Pictures

I had another OB appointment today and the doc did yet another ultrasound...I am beginning to feel spoiled! Melissa and Allie went with me and it was so much fun to see how much the babies have grown in just two weeks! Both babies measured 11 weeks and their heartbeats were 160 and 164. We were able to get some great pics!

We're having TWINS!!!

Today Phil and I went to another OB appointment and the doc was kind enough to do another ultrasound so that Phil could see the baby. To our surprise, there were two! The doc wasn't 100% positive and couldn't get a great view on his ultrasound machine, so he sent us over to the hospital where their machine is a bit more advanced. It took the ultrasound tech about 2 seconds to confirm that we are indeed expecting two babies!! We were shocked, to say the least! The tech said that each baby has their own sac, but that they are sharing a placenta, which typically indicates that the babies are identical twins. I go to the OB again next week and hopefully, he will be able to tell me if they are identical or fraternal. After we left the hospital, it was so much fun calling all of our family to tell them our amazing news. I think I will remember everyone's reactions forever! Thanks for being so excited with us!

First Ultrasound

Today I went to see my OB for the first time since I found out I was pregnant. Although this was supposed to be just my "confirmation" appointment, he decided to go ahead and do an ultrasound. I know you can barely see anything, but it was neat for me to see the baby for the first time. I admit, I was a little bummed because I wanted Phil to be there, but the doc said we could do another ultrasound when I go back in a few weeks.

We're Pregnant!!

Phil & I found out today that we are expecting our first child. I know, I know...you're probably saying, "It's about time!" (We have been married for almost 8 years). For my own sake, I'd like to start at the beginning, so that I will have it to remember.

Last summer the entire family (10 adults and 8 kids) went to Charleston, SC for a week. We all stayed together in a house and although we each had our own room, it was crazy, to say the least! We had a BLAST, and Aunt Mare and Uncle Phil wore themselves out with all the kiddos that week. On our drive home from Charleston, Phil kept talking about what a great time we had and how thankful he was to have such a great family that enjoyed spending time together (to which I completely agreed!). Later that day, Phil said to me, "I think we're ready." My response was, "Are you serious? Most guys who just spent a week with 8 kids (none of which belong to him) would probably have the complete opposite feelings right now!" Needless to say, we decided it was time to try:)

I have to say that even though my sisters and sister-in-law seemed to be popping babies out left and right, I never once was jealous or upset that I wasn't the one who was pregnant. I am so thankful that the Lord allowed me to be absolutely happy for them and that He waited until the time was right for me and Phil before he gave me that burning desire to have a child of my own.
